Our overwhelming desire is that people should enjoy their work, but not, of course, at the expense of making a profit or any of the other essentials to staying in business.
And why is enjoyment in work so important?
Because people who are fulfilled in their work contribute so much more to their organisation, and society as a whole, than those who are fearful and/or frustrated, and this has a direct impact on the bottom line!
In our opinion the ultimate reasons for being in business in the first place are as follows:
1. To stay in business
2. To provide employment
3. To enjoy your work
You don’t need to look very far in many organisations today to see how far from reality these simple aims are. In fact it wouldn’t be unfair to say that in most cases there is an ethos that is directly opposed to them.
There are five possible reasons for this:
1. Lack of long-term planning and goals,
2. Emphasis on short-term profits and solutions,
3. Competition between employees for promotion, etc.
4. Mobility of management,
5. Decision-making on the basis of visible figures alone.
At Excelsis we want to help any organisation that is interested in bucking the above trend, and we can do it in one or all of the following ways:
i)
Starting at the top in the Board- room with an introduction to the ‘System of Profound Knowledge’, the ultimate management philosophy.
ii)

Facilitating the long-term strategic planning process.
iii)
Identifying parts of the organisation where the maximum benefits can be achieved with a minimum effort and investment.
iv)
Optimising the systems and processes that define the function /purpose of the organisation.
v)
Introducing a ‘continuous improvement’ ethos where innovation is able to flourish.
vi)
